Layunin nitong takpan at protektahan ang bahaging ito laban sa tagas ng tubig, alikabok at malalakas na hangin. Kung walang maayos na ridge cap, maaaring magkaroon ng problema kahit matibay pa ang buong roofing system.
Sa paggawa ng bubong, kadalasang napapansin ang mga roofing sheets, pero may isang mahalagang bahagi na hindi dapat balewalain—ang Ridge Cap.
